Redhill taxi firm hands out free bottled water to shoppers in the heat

Anyone walking through Redhill town centre during the hottest part of the summer found something unexpected waiting on the pavement: supermarket trolleys packed with chilled bottled water, and a sign inviting them to help themselves.
The trolleys were put out by Roadrunners, the taxi and private hire firm based at 16–18 Station Road, a few steps from Redhill railway station. Each carried a green-and-white sign reading “Please help yourself to free water”.

Staff in branded polo shirts stood with the trolleys on the pavement near the Picturehouse, holding out bottles to people walking past.
It is the kind of gesture that costs a business very little and lands rather well on a day when even a short walk into town is hard work.
