Wrong-way driver on the A3 near Guildford causes crash involving several vehicles
A driver travelling the wrong way down the A3 near Guildford at around 70mph caused a collision involving several vehicles.
Dashcam footage captured the moments leading up to the crash. Photographs of the aftermath show three badly damaged cars scattered across the carriageway at night, with debris and a detached wheel left on the road surface.
The footage and the images were shared by Surrey Roads Police.
One of the most dangerous things on the road
Wrong-way driving on a dual carriageway is rare, and it remains one of the most dangerous situations a driver can meet: closing speeds are roughly double what they would be in normal traffic, and there is very little time to react.
Surrey Extra has not been told whether anyone was injured in this collision.
