Fire at Chillis takeaway in Redhill: crews called to Timperley Gardens overnight

Emergency services were called to Chillis takeaway — known locally as Chilli’s — in Timperley Gardens, Redhill, at around 1:30am on Monday 6 July after a fire broke out at the premises.

Surrey Extra received video from a follower showing several emergency service vehicles at the scene overnight, with fire crews working at the property. Further photos shared the following morning show the front of the takeaway shuttered, and what appears to be a burnt cooking pot left outside the door.

A local resident told Surrey Extra the fire is believed to have started after a stove containing oil was left on. This information has not been independently verified, and the official cause of the fire has not been confirmed.

Crews brought the fire under control overnight, preventing it from becoming more serious.

The fire was contained by firefighters and there have been no reports of any injuries. The images shared with Surrey Extra suggest the damage was largely confined to the kitchen area, though the takeaway’s front remained shuttered in the days after the incident.

It is the second fire Surrey Extra has covered in recent weeks, after the blaze at Tesco Express in Watercolour in June — a separate incident which later led to two arrests.
