Redhill town-centre McDonald’s reopens as the Mayor cuts the ribbon
The wait is over — the Mayor, Nick Harrison, officially cut the ribbon as Redhill’s town-centre McDonald’s welcomed its first customers back through the doors.
Redhill’s town-centre McDonald’s is officially back. After several weeks of refurbishment, the Mayor, Nick Harrison, cut the ribbon at the entrance on the morning of Friday 10 July before the first customers walked back through the doors.
The reopening capped a week of anticipation in the town centre. A red-and-yellow balloon arch had gone up by the entrance, the familiar golden arches were back on show, and barriers stayed across the front while the finishing touches were made — until the ribbon came down and the queue moved in.
Surrey Extra was there for the moment, and you can watch the official ribbon-cutting — and get a quick look inside the newly refurbished restaurant — in our video below.
The ribbon came down, the doors opened — and Redhill got its McDonald’s back.
For a town centre that has seen its share of change, the return of one of its best-known names is likely to be welcome. A busy McDonald’s tends to bring more shoppers and footfall into the area, and that can mean a lift for nearby shops and independent businesses too.
Not everyone is only thinking about burgers, though. Alongside the welcome, some residents have wondered whether the delivery mopeds that used to gather outside the restaurant will return with it — a familiar sight, and a familiar talking point, in the town centre.
