Driver arrested for drug driving after being stopped on Esher High Street

A driver has been arrested for drug driving after being stopped on Esher High Street.
Officers became suspicious when the driver was reportedly in a hurry to get out of the vehicle. Cannabis joints and herbal cannabis were then found inside the car.

The driver admitted having used cannabis earlier that day and went on to test positive at the roadside. They were arrested for drug driving and for possession of a Class B drug.
Surrey Extra is not naming the driver, and no court date has been reported.
The law on drug driving
Drug driving is treated in law much like drink driving: there are specified limits for a list of drugs including cannabis, and a roadside saliva test can be taken on the spot. A conviction carries a minimum twelve-month driving ban.
