TG Jones in Redhill closes for good, taking the Post Office counter with it

TG Jones in Redhill has closed permanently, ending the retailer’s presence in the town centre and taking the Post Office counter inside the shop with it.
The store traded for the last time on Saturday 5 September 2026. The unit is now shuttered, with the blue and red fascia — TG Jones on one half, Post Office on the other — still in place above it.
“We’ve now closed this store”
A notice taped inside the window confirms the closure. “We’ve now closed this store,” it reads. “Thank you for shopping with us. We’d love to see you at your nearest store” — and in the box underneath, written in by hand, one word: Reigate.
The notice also points customers to the company’s website, tgjonesonline.co.uk.

The Post Office counter has gone too
The closure takes with it the Post Office services that were run from inside the shop. Anyone in Redhill who used that counter for parcels, postage, bill payments, cash deposits or travel money now has to go elsewhere.
No replacement counter in Redhill has been announced.
From WHSmith to TG Jones
TG Jones is the name the former WHSmith high street business now trades under, following the sale of that arm of the company and its rebranding. The chain is in the middle of a wider restructuring, and a number of branches around the country are closing.
Redhill was one of the stores scheduled to shut on 5 September, alongside a branch in Redcar.
Another gap in the town centre
Surrey Extra reported in August that the Belfry Post Office was due to close, alongside the departure of Lloyds Bank and a run of other units going dark. That closure has now happened.
For people in Redhill, Reigate, Merstham, Earlswood, Salfords and the villages around them, it is one more everyday errand that can no longer be done in the town centre.
